Palmer, Copeland land on All-Big Ten team

The Big Ten Conference announced its All-Big Ten men’s basketball team on Monday. Nebraska junior guard James Palmer Jr. earned first-team All-Big Ten honors from the conference’s coaches, while earning second-team accolades from the media.

Palmer became the second Husker to earn first-team accolades from the Big Ten and the first since Terran Petteway in 2014.

Palmer finished Big Ten play, averaging 18.8 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game. He ranked third in the league in scoring during conference play.

Junior forward Isaac Copeland received honorable-mention honors from both the Big Ten coaches and media. He averaged 13.5 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.0 block per game this year.

Copeland has reached double figures in eight of the last nine games. He led the team with 17 points and 12 rebounds against Penn State on Sunday, giving him three double-doubles this season.

In addition, senior guard Evan Taylor was NU’s nominee for the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award. The student-athletes chosen are individuals who have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior.
