I thought it would be interesting to look back on our expectations for Frost and the program when we made the hire. Some comments are during the first season too. I wanted to leave out usernames because this isn’t about who was right and who was wrong. It was fun to read back and see our reaction to things like Martinez’s first games.

> We go 8-4 and win our bowl. Next pre season we start out ranked good ol no 20. The hype next August is going to husk our bones into crazy places. If we beat wiscy or iowa there will be much shit talking. I’m gambling on much husker happiness and wins the next 16 months. I want Bama.
.
>We should be able to have at least a 7-5 regular season. Akron, Colorado, Troy, Illinois, and Io_a should be solid wins. Purdue and Northwestern will be hard-fought, close games, but we’ll come out on top.
.
>I’m on board the Frost train regardless of outcome for the next 10 years at least. If we can’t give this guy of all people the benefit of the doubt, we will enter a never ending cycle of sucking.
.
>I think 9-3 is possible but it will take us a little while to get there.
.
> I want minimum 8 wins and being competitive in at least every game but OSU. Any less is settling. This isn’t Purdue. Having a timeline that’s realistic is important and I know best case scenario we’re in th B1g championship once every few years but still… we’re better than 6-6
.
>Oddsmakers: NU 2018 total regular season wins under 5.5 (-125)
>>Even without the koolaid I’ll take the over comfortably.
.
>Agree completely. We finally have the coach we so desperately want/need, we HAVE to give him time. Barring a disaster Frost deserves an absolute minimum of 5 years. GBR!
.
>I’m ready for stability. We have a young head coach with a huge upside. That being said I have optimism with our schedule next year we have a good chance to win the west.
>>Maybe in year two or three I could see us winning the west. He’s entering a tough situation.
>>>Sorry, meant two years. When I said next year I was referring to Frost’s first season being this year.
.
>I don’t know the details of his contract but I would be fine with a minimum of 7 years.
.
>This young quarterback is going to be great, he looked pretty good for his first game in front of 91,000 people. And the BLACKSHIRTS! Wow, they looked really good 6 sacks in ONE game, isn’t that more than all season last year? There was no pass rush last year. I haven’t been this excited after a loss ever, we did beat ourselves but wow how we recovered after those 2 turnovers. Just hope Martinez is ok.
.
>We might be alright with waiting for this thing to turn around, but Frost and Co. aren’t. If you think they are looking 4 years down the line to get “their guys” in place before we can be successful you’re kidding yourself. Next year might be tough but Scott hates losing. Hates it. Seriously, read his quotes, from when he was a player until now. He wants to win, pure and simple. One thing is sure: he will be coaching to win every game. Every game. He’s not going to go into the Big House and think “well we’ll probably drop this one so”. Nope. He’s gonna go in there with a game plan to win. Will he? Don’t know, but I am confident that he will not allow his team to give up.
>Our ceiling is a title. You all know that and more importantly he knows that better than anyone. This dude will win. I have no doubts.
>I cannot wait to silence the doubters who think it’s impossible to get it done in Lincoln. What a time to be a Husker.
.
> That leaves 7 non-division games. If we apply the same Frost=good and talent-rating logic, then it’s reasonable to assume NU can/should split those games (win 3 or 4).
>
> So based on this thinking, NU should win 7 games minimum in 2018.
>
> Essentially that minimum 3-game year-over-year improvement represents the value of a good coaching performance relative to a bad one.
>
> A great-to-Elite coaching performance would defeat every team NU has a talent advantage over (including Wiscy). That would produce a 10-win 2018. But It isn’t reasonable to expect this outcome after just 10 months, even if you believe Frost is Elite.
>
> Beyond 2018… In this division, with the typical non-con, NU should win 9-10 games every single year. All that’s required is a good coaching staff. You could argue that Pelini’s staff was good (not great) and they won 9 every year.
>>You high?
>>>You think nebraska’s that bad?
