Opening Night will be in a new location this season for the Nebraska men’s and women’s basketball teams, moving outdoors. The event is scheduled for Oct. 4 on Canopy Street next to the Railyard, near Pinnacle Bank Arena.
The evening will include player introductions, contests and comments from coaches Fred Hoiberg and Amy Williams. Attendance is free, and the event won’t be made up in the event of inclement weather.
“Opening Night is an event our players look forward to because it’s a chance to show their personality and have some fun with our fans,” Hoiberg said in a news release. “Moving it to the Railyard should create a fun environment and allow for more fan interaction with both our basketball programs and kick off what should be a fun homecoming weekend on campus.”
Both teams begin their respective seasons exactly one month later. The women tip off against Omaha on Nov. 4, and the men host Texas Rio Grande Valley the same day.
