Ole Miss football lands Stephon Wynn Jr, Nebraska transfer and former Alabama player

OXFORD — New Ole Miss football defensive coordinator Pete Golding has landed a familiar face in the trenches.

Nebraska transfer defensive tackle Stephon Wynn Jr. announced his commitment to play for the Rebels on Thursday afternoon. Wynn, a native of South Carolina and IMG Academy product, spent the first four seasons of his career at Alabama, where Golding was the defensive coordinator.

He played in 12 games for the Cornhuskers last season, totaling 22 tackles and registering a fumble recovery. The 6-foot-3, 305-pound Wynn received a 58.9 overall defensive grade from Pro Football Focus on the season.

Though he did not register a start for the Cornhuskers, he did see 304 snaps ‒ the most of his career. He played 163 snaps for the Crimson Tide over his four seasons in Tuscaloosa.

The third defensive addition for the Rebels in the transfer portal this spring, Wynn has one season of eligibility remaining.
