Okie here and I would like to say a few things.

First I’d like to say how much I’m looking forward to the game Saturday as I’m sure y’all are as well.

Both of my parents grew up in or near Schuyler. My father being a pilot/flight instructor they lived in GA and TX before finally making their home in OKC.

I was born in the 60s so I grew up in that magical era of the OU/NU Switzer/Osborne rivalry. And we traveled to Lincoln for the away games and all of our Husker relatives traveled to our home then on to Norman for the home games.

I have such fond memories of the pranks we played on each other. My personal favorite was putting an “OU #1” sticker on my uncles Cadillac bumper as they were pulling out of the driveway to head back north.

I looked forward to seeing them every year. Occasionally there were some pretty heated arguments but mostly good natured fun.

Those games though, seems like one of us was contending for a National Title more often than not. In my eyes there’s never been a rivalry like it and probably never will be again. The respect the fans have always shown one another is admirable.

So finally I just wanted to wish you all safe travels to and from the game if you’re coming.

I love you all and may the best team win.
