Nebrasketball: Coach Tim Miles Is Relieved of His Duties

Seven seasons leading the Huskers wasn’t enough for the South Dakota native

After a 72 to 88 loss to TCU in the NIT tournament on Sunday evening the University of Nebraska Athletic Department has decided to let men’s basketball head coach Tim Miles go.

Nebraska started the year off with lofty expectations with some of the best talent in a decade returning to Pinnacle Bank Arena for one special year. Unfortunately the injuries, schedule, and bad luck got in the way and the season started to spiral out of control once the conference slate started. Nebraska ended the year with a 19–17 record and 6–14 in the Big Ten.

Tim Miles had gone 116–114 and a conference record of 52–76 in seven years at the helm of the basketball team. His best season was his second in 2014 where he led the team to the NCAA Tournament and a fourth place finish in the Big Ten Conference.
