Nebraska’s National Signing Day Roundup 2019

*This story will be updated as the day moves along

Four star defensive end Ty Robinson is the latest to sign with the Huskers, choosing Nebraska over USC, Alabama, and Stanford. Hailing from Higley High in Gilbert, Arizona, the 6-foot-6, 285 pound prospect is a massive get for the Blackshirts, a unit that desperately needs a pass rusher. Robinson is the third signee of the day who had not already verbally committed to Nebraska.

The Huskers also secured signatures from 6-foot-7 offensive lineman Jimmy Fritzsche out of Greenville, South Carolina, and Brant Banks, a defensive lineman form Westbury Christian high school in Houston, Texas.

All in all it was a successful day for Nebraska head coach Scott Frost and the Huskers. Nebraska received signatures from three out of four targets they had left. Frost may have liked to get Lakeland, Florida defensive end Lloyd Summerall, who chose to stick in the Sunshine State, signing with the Gators. However, the addition of Robinson will no doubt make the loss of Summerall, who was already a long shot to get in the first place, an easier pill to swallow for the coaching staff.

Nebraska has locked up 20 of their 22 verbal commits thus far. Darien Chase, Myles Farmer, Quinton Newsome, Rahmir Johnson, Ronald Thompkins, Garrett Snodgrass, Jackson Hannah, Jamie Nance, Nick Henrich, Matthew Anderson, Chris Hickman, Mosai Newsom, Ethan Piper, Luke McCaffrey, Bryce Benhart, Michael Lynn, Jamin Graham, Javin Wright, Garrett Nelson, and Wandale Robinson have all officially signed. The Huskers are still waiting on Garden City, Kansas running back Dedrick Mills and offensive lineman from Yuma, Arizona, Desmond Bland.

Scott Frost will meet with the media at 4 o’clock to discuss the day’s events.
