As training camp begins, Matt Rhule holds a level of leverage over his son he didn’t always possess. Bryant Rhule has been playing the new college football video game, and his dad has a new way to curtailing his son’s usage.
“I’ve had to call him when I’ve been out there and be like, ‘If your mom tells you to do one more thing and you don’t do it, you’re fired,’” Rhule said. “‘You’re gonna be the first person fired. Put the game away.’”
Bryant is helping out with operations during training camp. He’ll stay in Selleck Hall with the rest of the program until the academic year starts. Then he’ll move to Abel to begin his freshman year.
Special teams coach Ed Foley’s kids will also be involved. He has one son working in operations and another in equipment. His daughter works for the nutrition staff, making players shakes in the morning.

“A lot of the coaches’ kids will be out there running around,” Foley said. “I’ve been with coach Rhule for a long time, and one of the great things is he wants the kids around. He understands the time commitment on our end, and he allows our kids to be in here, and that’s one of the reasons that we’ve been together for so long.”
