Nebraska vs Iowa, How to Watch: Game Time, TV, Streaming, Odds, and More

As has been the Black Friday Tradition for the past 9 years, Nebraska will be playing Iowa in the Heroes Game this Friday.

The Huskers head to Iowa City after a 23-41 loss to Illinois in Lincoln last week. This was a game in which Nebraska was favored by two touchdowns, but things just seemed to fall apart from the very first play and the Huskers were never able to recover.

Iowa is coming into the game riding a 3 game winning streak after defeating Penn State 41-21 in Happy Valley. Iowa brings a solid defense that has allowed just 16 points a game this season.

The Hawkeyes are led by Quarterback Spencer Petras who has 945 yards passing on the year and three touchdowns. Tyler Goodson and Mekhi Sargent each have six rushing touchdowns on the year.

Quotables

Head Coach Scott Frost on coming into a rivalry game with Iowa after a loss being different than coming off a win

“No I don’t think so. Our guys have responded this week. Energy is way better. I think they’re excited to play Iowa. Iowa is a really good team. It’s going to be a black and blue game like it always is against those guys. They’re going to make you earn it. We respect them but we want to play as hard as we can, and I think the guys are going to prepare.”

On judging quarterback performance

“Pace has been good this year. Those guys are running hard, they’re evading rush when they need to. Timing on throws needs to be a little better. We’re really young outside so that it’s all on the quarterbacks. But overall our quarterback play wasn’t good enough on Saturday, particularly the turnovers. We got off to such a bad start, but just like every week, we are going to let those guys compete. I’ve been talking to those guys about just what you asked, being confident. Both of them believe in the type of player they are and the type of throwers they are. They both have the capability of doing it.”

On how defenses have been playing Wan’Dale Robinson

“They’re aware of where he is all the time. Some of the quick throws, some of the option routes, some of them fast screens, they know where we where he is. We have a lot of people up near the line of scrimmage against us right now until we’re going to be able to push the ball downfield better.”

Linebacker JoJo Domann on what’s tough about defending the run in the BIG 10

“The Big Ten is a run-first league. We got some of the biggest offensive lineman, biggest tight ends, big fullbacks and talented running backs across the whole league. So you got to be sound in your run fits. You got to play more physical than them on defense and you got to get them out of their game plan, what they want to do to you, which is run the ball vertically down your throat. We struggled with the stretch in the past, so it’s really just the whole run game. Being able to stop and adjust to anything that they’re giving us and that we’re able to punch them back.”

Receiver Wan’Dale Robinson on the team’s emotions

“This is not over and we still have 3 three regular season games left and if we can win out these who knows what may happen. So it’s just trying to keep everybody together and know that we can still do this and we can flip this page. This can be a really big stepping stone for next year. Just getting us going and everything that we can accomplish next year too.”
