For the fifth straight week Nebraska is the No. 2 ranked team in college volleyball.
Each of the top seven spots in the new American Volleyball Coaches Association poll is the same as last week. Those teams, in order, are: Pittsburgh, Nebraska, Penn State, Louisville, Stanford, Creighton and Texas.
Pittsburgh is 38 points ahead of Nebraska in the poll. Three teams are getting first-place votes: Pittsburgh (50), Nebraska (10) and Penn State (one).
Creighton has a 10-match winning streak and kept its all-time best ranking of No. 6.
After four weeks of Big Ten matches, Nebraska and Penn State are tied for first place in the league standings at 8-0. Wisconsin is one match back at 7-1.
And on Sunday, Nebraska got its first look at how it’s viewed by the NCAA Tournament selection committee as it pertains to seeding when the committee released its top 16 seeds based on matches through last Saturday. Nebraska would be the No. 1 overall seed, followed by Pittsburgh, Penn State and Louisville.
The committee liked Nebraska’s challenging schedule and five wins against Top 10 ranked teams.
