Nebraska to face premier ACC program in latest bowl projections

Jim Dedmon-USA TODAY Sports

The Nebraska Cornhuskers started their 2024 season this past weekend with a 40-7 win over the UTEP Miners. The Huskers are now five wins away from bowl eligibility, but that hasn’t stopped the fans and media from looking ahead, and the latest bowl projections show the Huskers facing a premier ACC program in the postseason.

In the most recent USA TODAY postseason projections, the Huskers are projected to face the ACC’s Florida State Seminoles in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl.

The 2024 Duke’s Mayo Bowl will be played on Friday, January 3, 2025, at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina. If the Huskers make a bowl game this fall, it will be their first postseason game since the 2016 Music City Bowl, in which they lost to the Tennessee Volunteers 38-24.

The Huskers and Seminoles have met eight times, the last meeting being in 1994. Florida State has won each of the previous four matchups.

The Seminoles are off to an extremely disappointing start. They lost their first two games to Georgia Tech and Boston College to start the season 0-2 after a 13-1 season last fall.
