The Nebraska Cornhuskers are back in the win column with a 28-10 win over the Purdue Boilermakers this past Saturday. That said, the bowl projections following Saturday’s win remain the same for the Huskers.
The latest bowl projections from USA TODAY still have the Huskers projected to play in Nashville, Tennessee, in the Music City Bowl. Their projected opponent remains the same as well: Former Big Eight and 12 rival the Oklahoma Sooners.
The Sooners are coming off a bounce-back victory of their own this past Saturday, defeating the Auburn Tigers 27-21.
The two programs last met in 2022 in Lincoln as part of a home-and-home series and have met 88 times all-time since 1921. A rather even series historically, the Sooners hold a 47-38-3 edge all-time.
In this week’s projections, three Big Ten programs are projected to be in the 12-team playoff, with Ohio State, Oregon, and Penn State receiving the invites. The projections have Penn State facing Clemson in the first round, while the Oregon Ducks would take on Iowa State. Ohio State, receiving a first-round bye, would be projected to face Georgia in the quarterfinals.
