Nebraska soccer drops final exhibition match at Oklahoma


In its final tune-up match, the preseason No. 6 Nebraska soccer team fell 1-0 to Oklahoma on Friday in Norman, Oklahoma.

Scoring was at a premium as both teams saw a scoreless first half. NU held an 11-8 shot advantage and a 5-4 advantage on corners.

In the second half, the Huskers continued to pepper the net and came up empty handed on all 18 attempts including 10 on goal.

The Sooners finally capitalized in the 62nd minute as Leonie Weber handled an assist from Ella Pappas and found the back of the goal.

Sami Hauk started in net for the Huskers, making four saves. Cece Villa replaced Hauk in the second half and finished with one save. Maddy Osborn, NU’s final goalkeeper of the match, allowed the lone goal.

Florence Belzile led Nebraska in shots with six and shots on goal with four.

NU opens the regular season at home next Thursday, hosting Oklahoma State for a 7 p.m. match. Action will be streamed on Big Ten Plus.
