Nebraska QB Adrian Martinez Named to Walter Camp Award Watch List

Nebraska quarterback Adrian Martinez has received another preseason recognition, as he was one of 40 players named to the Walter Camp Award Watch list on Friday. It’s Martinez’s fourth watch list recognition in the last two weeks, having already been placed on the Davey O’Brien and Maxwell Award watch lists as well as the Big Ten Players to Watch list.

The Walter Camp Award is given annually to the best player in college football, as decided by FBS coaches. Three Nebraska players have won the award before, Johnny Rodgers in 1972, Mike Rozier in 1983 and Eric Crouch in 2001.

Last year, Martinez, a 6-foot-2, 200 pound sophomore, threw for 2,617 yards and 17 touchdowns while adding 629 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground.

The winner of the Walter Camp Award will be announced on December 12th at the College Football Awards Show on ESPN.
