Omar Brown shared hugs with former teammates. Luke Reimer smiled at how many current Nebraska players cheered him on during his Pro Day workouts.
Before the outgoing Huskers scattered to await potential futures in pro football, all agreed that the future in Lincoln is worth following.
“I can’t wait,” said Brown, who appeared in all 12 games last year in the NU secondary. “I’ve been telling everybody — even away from here — I can’t wait to see what Nebraska’s going to be like, for real. As far as coaching and players.”
Reimer said fans worrying about what middle linebacker looks like without him and fellow longtime starter Nick Henrich in the fold shouldn’t. John Bullock and Mikai Gbayor are veterans among other talented defenders, he said. They will “crush it” next year.
Offensive guard Nouri Nouili said the line “struggled a lot” last season but finished strong even if many observers looked past it. With only him and fellow guard Ethan Piper moving on, he said he’ll be watching how far NU blockers can displace opposing defensive lines in September and beyond.

Billy Kemp — who spent one year at Nebraska as a transfer receiver — said the young talent at wideout is about to blossom.
“I’m excited,” Kemp said. “They’ve got some pieces going into year two. Good young quarterback that they can build on. Demitrius Bell is someone to look out for. I’m really excited for him and J.D. (Jaidyn Doss) and all the returning guys. It should be a good year this year under Coach G (Garret McGuire).”
