Well, hello, Nebraska has a new head football coach. Hit or miss? Amie Just and Luke Mullin break down the hire.
The highest-rated signee in Nebraska’s 2022 recruiting class entered the transfer portal Friday, according to a program source.
Freshman safety Jaeden Gould redshirted while appearing in the Oklahoma game. The 6-foot-2, 200-pounder has four years of eligibility left. A graduate of Bergen County Catholic High School in New Jersey, Gould arrived at NU as a consensus four-star prospect across the four major recruiting services. ESPN, 247Sports and On3 each had Gould as the Huskers’ top-rated signee.
Gould is the third 2022 signee to enter the portal, joining inside linebacker Ernest Hausmann and receiver Decoldest Crawford. Utility backup offensive lineman Brant Banks entered the portal Thursday, and backup kicker Chase Contreraz entered the portal Friday.
The transfer portal officially opens for all players on Monday. Because of a coaching change between interim head coach Mickey Joseph and permanent head coach Matt Rhule, Husker players get a special 30-day dispensation to enter the portal after the switch. It becomes moot Monday, when the portal opens until it closes in mid-January.
