Starting left tackle Turner Corcoran suffered a “significant” hamstring injury during Nebraska’s 31-24 loss and will miss several games, NU coach Matt Rhule announced on Monday.
Corcoran’s replacement is redshirt freshman Gunnar Gottula, who played the majority of the game.
“Thought Gunnar came in and played really well,” Rhule said.
Gottula missed time earlier this season with an injury but returned in mid-September to play against Northern Iowa. The redshirt freshman from Lincoln Southeast — where his dad, Ryan, is the head coach — appeared in four games last season while retaining his redshirt.

A couple injury updates from Nebraska HC Matt Rhule:
* OL Turner Corcoran (hamstring) will be “out for a while.”
* DB Tommi Hill is day-to-day after leaving the Illinois game with an injury. #Huskers— Luke Mullin (@LjsLuke) September 23, 2024
When Gottula was hurt, Corcoran’s backup was Oakland-Craig walk-on Grant Seagren, who has appeared in every game this season.
Corcoran’s injury is the second major injury to hit the left tackle spot. Teddy Prochazka is out for the entire 2024 season with the third knee injury of his career.
At cornerback, Tommi Hill is “day to day” with a foot injury, Rhule said. Hill’s replacement, Ceyair Wright, is a USC transfer who signed with the team over the summer after a knee injury to another Husker newcomer, Blye Hill, left NU with uncertainty at the position. Blye Hill is on the mend and could play in 2024. Safety Marques Buford has rotated down to cornerback to start opposite Tommi Hill; Malcolm Hartzog has also played two seasons of cornerback for the Huskers before moving full-time to safety.
