Nebraska freshman safety Myles Farmer suffered an ankle or knee injury so bad BTN said they wouldn’t show it because of its “gruesome nature”. Hopefully this isn’t an omen.
Purdue picked up a 3rd and 10 on their first offensive series, but couldn’t pick up a 3rd and 11 as our beloved Huskers pressured quarterback Jack Plummer without a blitz! THEN NEBRASKA MADE A SPECIAL TEAMS PLAY AS Levi Falck blocked the punt. Simon Otte recovered the ball on the one yard line.
Dedrick Mills scored on the next play.
PAT: Culp, Connor kick attempt good.

Luke McCaffrey lost two yards on the first play, then Adrian Martinez dropped back, avoided numerous Boiler tacklers, rumbled, stumbled, groved and moved his way to the endzone. It was beautiful.
Connor Culp made the PAT.

Our beloved Huskers had a 1st and 5 in the Purdue 29. Rahmir Johnson rushed for four yards to the 25 for a 2nd and 1, but Martinez was sacked on the next play as Jack Sullivan pushed Bryce Benhart into Adrian for a butt sack. Martinez’ next pass to Robinson on a slant was incomplete.
CONNOR CULP KICKED A 49-yard field goal, the longest for Nebraska since… a very, very long time!

That 49-yarder was Nebraska’s longest field goal since Drew Brown hit from 51 against Purdue in 2016.
Nebraska special teams gave up a 42-yard kick return by TJ Sheffield. Purdue started at their own 44. They then moved down the field quickly and with relative ease.

Nebraska started at the 35 after the Purdue kick didn’t come anywhere near the football field. Our beloved Huskers glided smoothly towards the end zone. Martinez looked like a smooth operator. Some guy named Cooper Jewett got two yards rushing. And another guy named Wyatt Liewer scored on a 10-yard screen reception in which the Purdue defense looked confused and outmanned.
