I don’t want to get ahead of myself here, but Nebraska’s Tommie Frazier is the greatest college football player to ever grace the gridiron. Period, hands down – I don’t want to hear your silly opinion.

Good, you’re back. I missed you. Now, where were we? That’s right, playing championship-level football.
I think the key to what Tommie says is that they not only played to a certain level but had expectations of others to do the same. They understood how to be champions, and once you understand then you can lead others.
You can say what you want about Touchdown Tommie, but he was a good leader. Frazier’s teammates played for him, and the Husker’s won. A lot. Like, a lot a lot. They won so much that they decided to be not so good for two decades to let the other teams catch up, and honestly, I disagree with that decision. I think the team should have just kept winning. It was, and I know some people will disagree with me here, way more fun when we were winning. Like, way way way more fun.
Seriously, like so much more fun.
I’m interested to see how Scott Frost’s teams end up managing themselves moving forward. The more these teams see examples of good leadership from their peers, the more leaders will show up from both within and outside the walls of Memorial Stadium. Powerful leadership attracts strong leaders, and great leaders also know how to be amazing followers. It can create a perpetuating cycle of strong mindsets, and hopefully, even better talent.
Truthfully after the Illinois game, I was not a huuuuuuge Frost fan. I didn’t see how this team could be any better. I may have been wrong. If the team starts doing a little bit of what Tommie was talking about, we might just end up being world-beaters again, and Scotty Boy may end up being the savior we all thought he was.
Here’s to hope, fellow Huskers. May your corn be yellower, your leaves raked by a stranger, and the deer find your arrows wherever they fly.
And may the Huskers win out and play Kentucky in a bowl and beat Wan’Dale by 40. Not that I hold grudges.
