The Huskers returned to practice Tuesday after a 10-day layoff for spring break, there was much talk afterward about special teams from coordinator Bill Busch.
Busch had the kickers and punters working outdoors in the cold, wet, windy weather to get them accustomed to less-than-ideal game conditions and to provide a “good mental challenge.”
Transfer punter Brian Buschini drew praise from Busch for his mind-set and work ethic. Mentioning newcomers Trey Palmer and Tommi Hill as well as fifth-year walk-on Brody Belt, Busch said, “I really like where those three guys are at” as return men.
Belt also was singled out by wide receivers coach Mickey Joseph. “Brody is probably the best football player on this team overall. … He’s got a high football I.Q. He can play Z, he can play R, he can play running back, he can play special teams. … We’re excited to have Brody on our team.”
