Nebraska Football – Results of Spring Testing: Vertical Jump Huskers News Scott Frost Oliver Martin

We will try and update this throughout the week as they release more of the testing information. First up is the vertical jump.

Going back to the old tradition of publishing testing results for the Nebraska Football program, the Huskers have started this week by explaining the process that they go through. I could wax poetic about it, or I could simply let Boyd Epley do it himself.

Today, the first of what appears to be multiple testing results to be released is the vertical jump.

  1. Oliver Martin, WR – 40 inches
  2. Chris Kolarevic, LB – 38 inches
  3. Isaac Gifford, DB – 37 inches
  4. Jojo Domann, OLB/DB – 36.5 inches
  5. Nadab Joseph, DB – 35 inches
  6. Luke Reimer, LB – 35 inches
  7. Phalen Sanford, DB – 35 inches
  8. Cameron Jurgens, OL – 34.5 inches
  9. Zach Weinmaster, RB – 34.5 inches
  10. Deontai Williams, DB – 34 inches

We have all been hearing that Oliver Martin is probably one of the best athletes on the team and so far it sure appears to be shaking out that way.

The one that pops out immediately is Cam Jurgens at 34.5 inches. We heard about how great an athlete that he was but when you stick somebody at center is can sometimes be hard to really appreciate his athletic ability unless you watch closely. Not a lot of football programs would say that an offensive lineman was in the top ten of the vertical jump. Some might want to say well maybe that reflects on the team but I don’t think that’s the case here. It is no small feat for somebody to have a 34.5 inch vertical leap.

Chris Kolarevic, a possible starter at LB in the fall, at 38 inches is impressive. Well if you are on this list it is impressive regardless.

I would love to see the average vertical jump for the next ten players. I bet there are a dozens and dozens over the 30 inch vertical mark.
