Some college football coach not named Matt Rhule thinks Nebraska is a Top 25 team in 2024.
The Huskers received two points in the USLBM Coaches Poll, released Monday afternoon. That’s a tie for 46th overall. NU either got two votes for 25th place or one vote for 24th place, based on the way polls apportion points for votes. Rhule is not listed as a voter in the 2024 poll.
Nebraska hasn’t been ranked in the Coaches Poll since 2019, before the Huskers lost at Colorado. The 2024 version of the Buffaloes also received two points.
Four Big Ten teams — Ohio State at No. 2, followed Oregon at 3, Michigan at 8 and Penn State at 9 — are ranked in the preseason top 10. USC (23rd) and Iowa (25th) are the other Big Ten teams in the preseason Top 25. Washington (26th) and Wisconsin (34th) also received points.
Nine SEC teams — led by preseason No. 1 Georgia— are in the Top 25 poll, followed by six Big Ten teams, five Big 12 teams — Utah is highest at 13th — and four ACC teams, led by Florida State at 10th. Notre Dame, an independent school that plays a modified ACC schedule, is also in the Top 25 at seventh overall.
