Nebraska Football Pro Day Results: Dicaprio Bootle Turned Some Heads

Nebraska’s Pro Day was held Tuesday morning as five Huskers performed both traditional measured combine drills along with individual position drills. There were 23 of the 32 NFL teams present including the Jaguars, Seahawks, Broncos, Buccaneers, Steelers, 49ers and Titans. Here is a look at how each of the five Huskers did.

Dicaprio Bootle

While others had strong showings, it was Bootle who stole the show running an impressive 4.38 40 yard dash, a 36.5” vertical leap and 10’6” bridge jump. Bootle’s time is impressive which would have tied for third fastest at the 2020 NFL Scouting Combine. His vertical leap and broad jump numbers weren’t elite but still higher than the combine averages which isn’t a surprise since he showed good explosiveness on tape. Having a strong 40 time will help show teams he can run deep with receivers and combined with some good ball production in 2018 should make him very impressive to teams.

Matt Farniok

Outside of Bootle, Farniok did the best out of any of the timed drills. Posting a 33” vertical leap at 312lbs is impressive in showing his burst while his 28 bench press reps is better than the average for both guards and/or centers. Farniok also moved well in drills. Farniok had an up and down senior season but these numbers should help him as he tries to stick with a team as a versatile lineman that can play all five spots on the offensive line.

Brenden Jaimes

Nebraska’s top NFL Draft Prospect, Jaimes chose not to run the 40 yard dash due to tightness in his calf but still did a majority of the measured and posterior drills. His 30.5” vertical leap was above average showing some good explosives while his 25 bench press reps were right with the five year combine average. During position drills Jaimes moved well and even snapped the ball on some drills indicating some teams want to see how he could be as a center.

Dedrick Mills

Mills had a lot to gain from Tuesday’s Pro Day and did well in a number of drills. A 4.58 40 yard dash was an impressive time for Mills and would have been a top 10 time for running backs from the 2020 NFL Scouting Combine. Mills also caught the ball well in position drills, something he didn’t get to show off much during his time at Nebraska. While those were good, Mills vertical leap was only 32.5” which is below the average for running backs. Mills is viewed as a one cut zone runner abs after Tuesday’s performance that’s likely where he’ll continue to be viewed.

Jack Stoll

There were ups and downs for Stoll during the Pro Day drills. The best thing for him was he ran a 4.60 40 yard dash which was much faster than I thought he’d run and pretty impressive. However from there it was a bit of a downer. Stoll’s 16 reps on the bench was not only below average for tight ends but tied with Bootle. Add in a 31.5” vehicle leap and it doesn’t show much explosiveness. This wasn’t unexpected for Stoll as he didn’t show on tape that he was an explosive athlete or overly strong. I’ve long thought his best chance of sticking with an NFL team was as a fullback, but nothing than the 40 time really stood out for him.
