Nebraska football lands Kade Pietrzak, the No. 1 recruit from North Dakota

The Nebraska football team has landed the top-ranked recruit out of North Dakota in the 2025 recruiting cycle, beating out several other schools to do so.

West Fargo (North Dakota) Sheyenne defensive lineman Kade Pietrzak announced his commitment to Nebraska on Sunday, picking the Huskers over fellow front-runners Kansas State, Oklahoma and Wisconsin.

A 6-foot-4, 250-pound prospect who earned a scholarship offer from Nebraska last September, Pietrzak has long been one of the Huskers’ top 2025 targets along the defensive line. He attended a junior day event in January then returned to campus in June for an official visit ahead of a summer decision.

Alongside official visits to his other top schools, Pietrzak heavily considered Oklahoma — but defensive line coach Terrance Knighton and defensive coordinator Tony White helped land a recruiting win for Nebraska instead.

Pietrzak has the potential to play either on the interior of the defensive line or the edge in the future, and he already displays a strong pass rushing move and center of balance on his junior film.

Pietrzak’s commitment provides a major boost to Nebraska’s 2025 recruiting class as the program’s third defensive line addition and 17th overall member. Nebraska had long held a commitment from Omaha North’s Tyson Terry and added Hitchcock (Texas) lineman Malcolm Simpson last month, but missed out on several other defensive line targets over the summer.

Nebraska has now landed the top-ranked 2025 recruit from three states within its 500-mile radius: Colorado (Tanner Terch), South Dakota (Shawn Hammerbeck) and North Dakota (Pietrzak).
