Nebraska football defeats Purdue: What people are saying

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — A look at some talking points after the Huskers’ game against Purdue on Saturday.

Behind enemy lines

From Purdue’s postgame news conference

Head coach Ryan Walters on six pass interferences: “I thought a couple of them were blatant, but there were a couple that were judgment calls. I’ll go back and watch the tape and see where we can teach and improve on that one.”

Walters on what’s next: “I’m extremely competitive so the thought of not competing isn’t in the equation. We’ll get in and watch the tape on Sunday, we’ll game plan Monday and have a hard practice on Tuesday.”

Walters on team’s 16 penalties: “The ones that drive me crazy are the pre- and post-penalties. The stepping over a receiver. That’s stupid. Can’t happen. This is a disciplined program, and that was not indicative of what we’re teaching or what we harp on. … “

Walters on offense’s struggles: “I gotta watch the tape. It’s easy to sort of come in and be frustrated just by looking at statistics. But until you watch the tape and evaluate what happened … I would like to make an educated answer to that question after I study it.”

Walters: “Am I angry? Absolutely. Am I frustrated? Hell yeah. Do I hate losing? Hell yeah. So we have to figure out a way to win.”

What other media outlets are saying:

WEST LAFAYETTE — Too many penalties.

Nebraska benefited from a road trip to West Lafayette to play a Purdue football team which had a less than celebratory Homecoming culminating with a third straight loss.

It took Nebraska nearly three full quarters to score, but once the Huskers did, they poured it on a bad Boilermaker team for a 28-10 victory.

Where is the Purdue football offense?

Enough with upgraded weapons. Injuries have kept some off the field, but you can’t sell people on depth and have no answer when a couple of playmakers aren’t in the lineup.

In its last two home games, Purdue has 10 points. Seven of those came in a lopsided loss when the game was out of reach.

It’s time to start asking questions about why the Boilermakers are going backward in terms of offensive improvement.

Former NU player Will Compton: BAD DAY TO BE A BOILERMAKER

X user @Faux Pelini: IF YOU’RE WEARING RED PANTS AND CAN KICK A FOOTBALL PLEASE REPORT TO THE NEBRASKA SIDELINE

X user @HuskerTapes: Unsportsmanlike conduct on Nebraska’s coach…. GOOD! Fans have had enough too!

X user @TylerPoppe: I’m so exhausted by the “a wins a win” and the “just enjoy the win” crowd that has come from Nebraska. We should be critical of this team because we love Nebraska football. That first half and part of the third was embarrassing

X user @EddiePowerofred: We wanted to make it interesting in the 2nd half so we botched ALL our scoring opportunities! #GBR

X user @smweyers: Glad Neb got the w. Now, take that fourth quarter and reproduce it for four straight quarters next week. Stomp Rutgers.

X user @DerrickArthur: Hey Peacock the Nebraska Purdue game only has the band sound effects turned up way too loud and no ref sound and your announcers sound like they are whispering.

X user @Mrstarkhimself: Was not pretty. But good teams win bad games. Gotta clean up special teams. GBR
