Nebraska Falls to Oklahoma in Double OT, 1-0

Norman, Okla. – The Nebraska soccer team (3-1-0) dropped a heartbreaker to Oklahoma in double overtime, 1-0, at John Crain Field on Sunday afternoon. This marked Oklahoma’s first win over the Huskers since 2014, and Nebraska’s lone overtime game this season.

Nebraska outshot the Sooners 18-17, including a 5-1 advantage in the first overtime, but Oklahoma (2-2-0) managed the lone goal of the night in the 108th minute. Ella Pappas found the back of the net off an assist from Sheridan Michel.

Making her fourth start of the season, sophomore goalkeeper Sami Hauk had a career-high nine saves before an injury sidelined her with less than a minute of regulation remaining. Makinzie Short came in relief, recording one save in 18 minutes of play.

Nebraska’s 15 shots on goal were spread among eight different Huskers, led by freshman Allison Napora with a career-high three shots and Reagan Raabe, Dakota Chan, Theresa Pujado, Sarah Weber and Kenzie Coons all with two.

Defenders Olivia Brown and Grace Brown also played the entire game with Chan and Gwen Lane playing over 90 minutes.

The Huskers return to action on Thursday when they host Omaha at Hibner Stadium at 7:05 p.m. Tickets are available by calling 1-800-8 BIG RED or by visiting Huskers.com/tickets. The matchup will be aired on Big Ten Network+ (subscription required) and KRNU.
