Nebraska Faces Maryland Friday Night



The No. 11 Nebraska volleyball team (17-6, 11-3 Big Ten) returns to the Devaney Center this Friday, Nov. 12, playing host to Maryland (18-8, 6-8). First serve is set for 6 p.m., and the match will be televised in a statewide broadcast on Nebraska Public Media — formerly known as NET — and streamed on Big Ten Network+, with Larry Punteney and Kathi Wieskamp on the call.
 
This week’s action will be carried on Huskers Radio Network with Matt Coatney handling play-by-play duties and Lauren Cook West providing color commentary.
 
Huskers Radio Network will carry the matches on HRN radio affiliates, including 107.3 FM in Lincoln and AM 590 in Omaha. A live audio stream will be available at Huskers.com and on the Huskers app. Inside the Devaney Center, fans can access the direct radio call of the match at 87.7 FM.

Scouting the Maryland Terrapins
Maryland is 18-8 (6-8 Big Ten) after falling 3-0 to Michigan on Sunday — the Terrapins’ second straight loss. Sam Csire led the Terps with 11 kills to go with eight digs. Paula Neciporuka added 10 kills and nine digs.
 
Rainelle Jones paces the Big Ten with 1.49 blocks per set in conference play, and the Terps are second as a team with 2.87 blocks per set.
 
Adam Hughes is in his fourth year at Maryland with a career record of 54-56.
 
Noting the Series: vs. Maryland
Nebraska leads the all-time series with Maryland 15-0, including 13-0 in the John Cook era. The Huskers have swept seven of the last eight matches.
 
NU and Maryland last met Feb. 5-6 in Lincoln, with the Huskers winning 3-1 on the opening night and 3-0 in the finale. Lauren Stivrins had a standout effort in the opener with 18 kills on 20 swings with just one hitting error for an .850 performance.
 
The Huskers have a 9-0 advantage over Maryland in Lincoln, including 7-0 at the Devaney Center.
