Nebraska Evens Series With 8-2 Victory Against Golden Gophers

Schreiber clubs two home runs in victory

A day after the Nebraska Baseball team (13-10, 1-1 Big Ten) could not get anything going against Minnesota pitching, the Huskers scored early and often in an 8-2 victory. Nebraska chased Minnesota starter Nick Lackney in the fourth inning and got their best starting pitching performance of the year from Matt Waldron.

Waldron kept the Gophers off the scoreboard in the first, giving the Huskers a chance to score first. Nebraska got a single from Zac Repinski to start the game. After Zac Luckey was a strikeout victim of Lackney, Scott Schreiber connected on a pitch past the play center in right field.

Nebraska tacked on single tallies in the next three innings. In the third, Nebraska got the first two runners on and used small ball to plate Luke Roskam who had walked. Schreiber connected for his second home run of the day in the third to move the lead to 4-0. In the fifth, Roskam came around on a sacrifice fly after reaching on an error.
