Nebraska defensive lineman Elijah Jeudy ready to take a jump in 2024

Nebraska’s Elijah Jeudy (16) is shown before the Minnesota game on Aug. 31, 2023, in Minneapolis.

Elijah Jeudy’s talent has never been in question. Once a heavily recruited high school prospect, Jeudy has the size and quickness to be an every-down defensive lineman. In his first season with Nebraska after transferring from Texas A&M, he was a rotational piece in the trenches, contributing 12 tackles, one for a loss, and a blocked field goal that turned into a Quinton Newsome touchdown return.

Now he’s primed for a leap. Defensive line coach Terrance Knighton told him he had to get better for Nebraska to improve the way it wants to as a unit. Knighton has also seen Jeudy’s mind develop away from the field. He’s in a better headspace than he was in 2023.

Jeudy became a father over the offseason, and his different outlook has shown up on the practice field.

“A lot of times when these kids are going through things you have no idea what’s going on in their personal lives with things that show up on Saturdays, but his life is together,” Knighton said. “He has a beautiful family, and you can tell that he’s enjoying football right now and enjoying life, and it’s showing up in practice.”
