Nebraska Continues Conference Slide with Loss at Ohio State

The Big Ten Conference hasn’t been kind to Nebraska.

The Huskers (16-11, 6-10 Big Ten) began the season 13-2, including a 3-1 start to the conference. But since that time they’re just 3-9 and have dropped six of the last seven.

The tough times continued Wednesday at Ohio State (17-9, 10-5 Big Ten), the fifth RPI Top 25 opponent in the last six games. Nebraska failed to connect on any of their first 16 three-point attempts and managed just 34.4-percent from the field overall to never pose a true challenge to the Buckeyes in the game.

Nebraska did have a two point lead early in the second quarter, but Ohio State used a 14-0 run to propel themselves into a 33-20 lead at the half. The Buckeyes coasted to a 65-52 win.

The Huskers did end up making two of their final four attempts from deep and went 8-of-9 from the free throw line. Ohio State shot 40.9-percent from the field and made 8-of-21 from beyond the arc.

Only two Huskers reached double figures, led by Kate Cain who posted 13 points and nine rebounds. Same Haiby added 12 points.

Nebraska has just two regular season games remaining, beginning with Senior Day against Illinois (11-5, 2-13 Big Ten) February 22.
