Nebraska Baseball Infielder Alex Henwood Earns Academic All-District Honors

Senior infielder Alex Henwood earned CoSIDA Academic All-District 7 honors this week for his combined performances on the field and in the classroom this season.

Henwood, who holds a 3.78 grade-point average in textiles, merchandising and fashion design, is one of four infielders on the District 7 team. An Appleton, Wisconsin, native, Henwood is a three-year letter winner for the Huskers.

Henwood has been named a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar twice and also achieved Academic All-Big Ten accolades on two occasions. Henwood is a seven-time Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll member and four-time Tom Osborne Citizenship Team selection.

This season, Henwood has started 17 of his 25 games. He has recorded 12 hits, three doubles, one home run, 11 runs scored and five stolen bases.

For his career, Henwood has started 40 of his 68 games. He has compiled 32 hits, 26 runs scored, eight doubles, two home runs, 14 RBIs and eight stolen bases. Primarily playing at second base, Henwood has a career fielding percentage of .995 with 109 assists and 74 putouts.

Academic All-America honorees for NCAA Division I baseball will be announced on June 6.
