Nebraska Athlete Name, Image, and Likeness Deals

Day One of the new name, image and likeness (NIL) is over and the landscape clearly shows that a lot of athletes are ready to put their names next to products and take advantage of the income potential this policy offers. While I still cringe at the #NILbraska hashtag the athletic department is promoting, I do think this is the right thing to do for the student athletes.

Nebraska has been a leader in preparing student athletes for this opportunity. Given the loyal and large fan base for any Husker sport, I expect this to be a change that helps tip the scales toward Nebraska for recruiting and retaining athletes.

The new NIL rules went into effect July 1 and some Huskers were ready to roll right out of the gate. What were some of the sponsorships that Husker athletes showed off yesterday?

Football

In interviews, Adrian Martinez has said he hopes to monetize his podcast. It will be interesting to see how he does that.

But not everyone gets to participate in the feeding frenzy.

Volleyball

Men’s Basketball

Baseball

Well, not a sponsorship deal, but a “good” start toward getting one?

I’m sure we missed some. If you see one, add it to the comments!
