Nebraska AD Bill Moos out after four years with the Cornhuskers, per report

Nebraska will be searching for a new athletic director to lead its athletic program. According to the Lincoln Journal Star, AD Bill Moos is out after nearly four years with the Cornhuskers. It’s not immediately clear why Moos’ time in Lincoln has come to an end and Nebraska did not respond to the Journal Star’s request for comment. However, an official statement could come as early as Friday.

Moos’ contract ran through the end of 2022.

Hired by Nebraska in October 2017, Moos succeeded Shawn Eichorst, who was fired a month before after five years with the program. Moos’ notable moves included hiring Scott Frost to coach the football program in December 2017. A former quarterback for Nebraska in the 1990s legendary coach Tom Osborne, Frost was coming off of an undefeated season at UCF and considered a big hire for Moos at the time. However, Frost is 12-20 in three seasons at Nebraska and has yet to record a winning season. Meanwhile, Moos has been leading a $155 million football facilities project.

Moos also hired men’s basketball coach Fred Hoiberg in 2019 after Hoiberg was fired from the Chicago Bulls. Hoiberg is 14-45 in two seasons.

CBS Sports will update this story as more information becomes available
