My thoughts about Week 1 of CFB

TL;DR What a hell of a game! It's nice watching the Huskers coast to a comfortable victory, instead of being in a dogfight with teams we should put away easily. It really puts a smile on my face that we had a comfortable W for a change.

Players down the depth chart getting game time experience was something I thought was more important than trying to hang 50+ points on our opponents. IMO it looked to me like Rhule's staff had a lot of respect for UTEP's coaching staff, because breaking 50 was definitely something we could've done last night. Oh well, let's hang 50 on Colorado instead!

I've obviously have been playing too much CFB 25, with how loud it sounded in the stadium, I was catching myself looking for the Stadium Pulse meter in the corner of my TV screen, and oftentimes imagining UTEP's WR's having shaky routes lol

I was convinced that we were going to be in a dogfight with UTEP when they tied it up at 7, my blood pressure was rising when we fumbled near the goal line, but that safety felt like the momentum got sapped out of UTEP, and I'm glad that turned out to be true in the end.

Fox Sports really dropped the ball with handling a weather delay IMO. It went from being aired on the scheduled channel, to being bounced to FS2 when Penn State's game resumed, and then back to the originally scheduled channel at the end of PSU-WVU. I would've been fine if the network decided to just blackout PSU-WVU for the state of Nebraska.

I wasn't really a huge fan of the announcers we had, I felt like at times they were way too focused on UTEP's sideline, and their new HC, but cool uniforms that UTEP was wearing yesterday.

We were soooo close to seeing some upsets yesterday too. Fresno State hung around with Michigan for most of their game, and a late pick six was what iced the game there. Idaho was hanging around with Oregon, and only lost by 10 in that contest. Hawaii lost to UCLA by three last night as well. Watching Florida get blown out by Miami was definitely not on my bingo card for week 1, I was really expecting that game to go down to the wire.

I'm so glad college football is back! GO BIG RED!
