Mike Riley joins College Football Playoff committee

Mike Riley, former Nebraska football coach, has joined the College Football Playoff Selection Committee just as the event expands to 12 teams.

Riley replaces Pat Chun, who stepped down when he became the new Washington athletic director.

“We are pleased to have Mike join the committee,” CFP Executive Director Bill Hancock said. “He has significant experience as a player and coach, and he loves college football. He will bring a unique perspective to the committee. Plus, he is a delightful human being.”

Riley played collegiately at Alabama, called plays at USC, and served as head coach at Oregon State and Nebraska. He finished 19-19 in his three years at NU, which fired him after the 2017 season. The Huskers have a 24-44 record since then and have not played in a bowl game.
