Meyers Makes ALDS Roster – University of Nebraska

Former Husker Jake Meyers has made the Houston Astros’ 26-man roster for the American League Divisional Series against the Seattle Mariners, the organization announced Tuesday morning.

Meyers started the season on a rehab assignment with the Triple-A Sugar Land Space Cowboys, before he returned to the Astros in August. In 52 games with the Astros, he hit .227 at the plate with six doubles, two triples, a home run and 15 RBI.

The former Husker played in the first four games of last season’s ALDS series against the White Sox, before a season-ending injury in game four shut him down for the remainder of the playoffs.

Meyers was drafted by the Astros in the 13th round (391st overall) of the 2017 MLB Draft. At the time of his MLB debut in 2021, he was the 37th Husker to play in the Majors.

A native of Omaha, Meyers was a three-year letterwinner at Nebraska from 2015 to 2017. The two-way standout was a third-team All-American as a junior and a two-time All-Big Ten and Academic All-Big Ten selection. Meyers was a career .307 hitter and finished 17-4 on the mound with a 2.61 ERA and 112 strikeouts.

The five-game series between the Astros and Mariners begins this afternoon, with first pitch set for 2:37 p.m. in Houston.
