Memorial Stadium is the only place where I‘ve been told I’m too loud or that I need to sit.

I love Memorial Stadium, especially since I’m an alum, and a lifelong Husker fan, but I can’t get over how I’ve been told “calm your tone” and “please sit down”

For me, I do not curse and swear when I’m upset about what happens on the field, but there have been times when my disgust and attempts to motivate the play on the field have hit low points during the games… no I’m not talking about injury stoppage, but you get the idea.

I remember three years ago when I said something like “get fired up D, where ya at??!!”, five rows up on North Stadium’s end zone, and top of my lungs too, I got a jab on my shoulder by someone two rows up to complain to me

“You need to settle down, we have grandchildren here!”

I apologized to her, and said that I only make comments that are appropriate, and never swear at people.

She doesn’t event acknowledge my apology and just walks off rudely.

The more common instances that I’ve heard stories of at Memorial Stadium is the standing issue, and I’ve also have been told to sit down as the title states.

I try to be mindful of others at the game, but when there’s a deep ball, and a wide open red jersey ready to take in that pass, who *doesn’t* stand up- even if it’s all for nothing with an incompletion?? That’s where I’ve been told to sit down more often, on big plays developing or just occurred.

It’s crazy to find out that I once thought it was just me, I mean I did sit in the student sections a year prior, but it really isn’t just me being policed like this by other fans in the stadium.

I try to make others’ game day experiences better, I understand if swearing or threats and racism got someone in trouble. On the other hand, if you’re upset that some is being loud, or that they’re standing, perhaps try watching the game at home.

That being said, I’m not opposed to accommodating the elderly who wish to attend games as well. Why not have a dedicated seniors or family section in memorial stadium??
