Though Nebraska Athletics did not make a formal announcement by Thursday morning, the Husker football program has listed several new assistants in its coaching directory.
The NCAA recently passed legislation allowing schools to add an unlimited number of assistants with on-field teaching duties during practice or games. NU has responded by adding or changing the titles of at least nine staff members in the program.
Ron Brown: A longtime NU aide, who recently was director of player support and outreach, is again an assistant, coaching fullbacks and returners. Brown was last a full-time Husker assistant in 2014, coaching running backs. Since 2018, he’d held a variety of positions for former coach Scott Frost and current coach Matt Rhule.
Keith Williams: The former Husker offensive lineman retained his director of player personnel title while adding assistant tight ends coaching duties. Williams will help offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield with the position.

Josh Martin: The tight ends coach in 2023 moves to assistant special teams coach under special teams coordinator Ed Foley.
Jack Potenza and Josh Bringuel: Defensive coordinator Tony White’s two hires from Syracuse now have become linebackers coaches. Potenza will work specifically with the Jack position, a hybrid defensive line/linebacker role that includes MJ Sherman, Princewill Umanmielen and Maverick Noonan. Bringuel will assist linebackers coach Rob Dvoracek.
Potenza and Bringuel are experts in White’s 3-3-5 defensive scheme. A third White hire, Kevin McGarry, remained a senior defensive analyst, but the title should have little bearing on McGarry’s ability to instruct as needed.
Adam DiMichele and Rashaan Melvin: New secondary coach and passing game coordinator John Butler gets two assistants, DiMichele (safeties) and Melvin (cornerbacks). Melvin played seven seasons in the NFL over nine years, connecting with Rhule at the Carolina Panthers. DiMichele, a former Temple quarterback under Rhule, switches from offense to defense.
Aaron Coeling: An offensive line graduate assistant and analyst under Donovan Raiola since 2022 now becomes an offensive line assistant. He had been Charleston Southern’s offensive line coach 2019-2021.
Jamar Mozee: Mozee is the one new hire. He’s a senior football assistant hired away from Central Florida. Mozee, a former Kansas City-area high school football coach, is also the father of 2025 blue-chip receiver prospect Isaiah Mozee.
In all, four of the nine new assistants coach on defense, two coach on offense, one coaches special teams, one, Brown splits his time between offense and special teams, and one, Mozee, does not have a designated assignment.
