Maybe we should all just relax a little bit?

I’ve definitely been Mr. Negative around here and I’m not going to advocate for sunshine pumping because that shit is dumb, but I think we as a fanbase need to lighten the fuck up.

Here’s what I mean. The Frost hire and everything around it has largely been the “right” move it seems. Frost was a no brainer, he has good supporting staff (fight me: Lubick is legit and Chins has the D trending in the right direction), good recruiting, we’re spending money like we need to to keep up. We’re doing it by the books, but somehow forgetting that a lot of Nebraska’s success is because they did thinks differently and thinkin outside of the box. Modern S&C, partial qualifiers, etc.

Why are we not looking for the next angle to make up for our disadvantages? Our advantage is a guy who coached some good players at UCF up to punch above their weight now has more resources to work with? Come on.

I sincerely believe if Frost isn’t the guy, we really need to look into a coach like Nick Rolovich at Washington State or Jamie Chadwell at Coastal Carolina. These are guys who are notorious for doing wild, fun shit for the players and coaching a slightly different style of football (Rolo-ball is so damn fun holy shit). In turn they attract players who are under valued and maybe a little out there, guys that are down to get weird. Cole McDonald for example.

Look, at the end of the day you’re still trying to talk kids into coming to play for a losing team in Nebraska. If you know that but also know you might be acting out WWE by smashing tables and all with your teammates (Chadwell) to celebrate a win or your coach is trying to bring a monkey to media days (Rolovich), well maybe Lincoln might not be as boring as you first thought.

That state advertising tag line “honestly, it’s not for everyone” is true. It’s not, so maybe we should lean in to that shit. It’s not like we could really lose a lot more games than we are now anyway.

I’m ready to be eviscerated by the blue hairs and people who understand football way better than me, so any thoughts?
