Nebraska head coach Scott Frost took to the podium Monday at the Don Bryant Media Center, where he confirmed that Adrian Martinez would be the starter for Saturday’s game against Michigan.

The depth at the quarterback position has been a massive concern all season, and it certainly didn’t help matters on Saturday when back-up QB Andrew Bunch went down with what appeared to be a knee injury. Ultimately, Bunch reentered the game, but it still wasn’t a good sign.

With essentially only two options at quarterback, trying to carefully manage the injury situation will be like walking a tight rope for this staff. “We don’t have the luxury of being overly protective of them,” Frost said.

In other news, senior linebacker Luke Gifford revealed that the Blackshirts weren’t taken away after the poor showing against Michigan. “Honestly, at first, I was kind of conflicted,” Gifford said. “At the end of the day, we still have to play with that same confidence and swagger that a Blackshirt would.”

Nebraska will take on Purdue this upcoming Saturday. Kickoff is set for 2:30, with pregame coverage beginning at 9:30 on 1400, KLIN.
