Man Arrested After Carrying Machete Into Lincoln McDonalds

Officer Luke Bonkiewicz says police received a call Monday morning that a man was attempting to order food at the McDonalds at 547 N 48th st. with 18-inch machete was hanging from his sweatpants.

“One of the employees told this individual that he should not have it,” says Bonkiewicz,”so the individual put in down his pants.”

When police arrived and asked the man why he had the machete,

“He said that he had bought the machete and he was going to use it for work because he had been hired by a temp agency to work as a lumberjack,” according to Bonkiewicz.

The man was identified as 22-year-old Kelly R. Savage, and after a search, was also caught carrying a silver BB-gun revolver.

Savage was arrested for one felony count of carrying a concealed weapon and as well as a count of being a felon in possession of a weapon.
