Incoming Freshman Forward Yvan Ouedraogo Puts up Double Digits in France’s Win over Latvia in U18 European Championships

At just 17 years of age, future Husker Yvan Ouedraogo is a promising young talent for Nebraska and that promise was on full display on Monday at the FIBA U18 European Championships in Greece.

The 6-foot-9, 260 pound foward scored 11 points, pulled down 5 rebounds, had 4 steals and 2 assists for his native France, in their 73-63 win over Latvia. He shot an excellent 5-6 from the floor; however he was only 1-4 from the free throw line. Through three games in the tournament, Ouedraogo is averaging 3.7 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals.

France is now on through to the round of 16, which will get underway on Wednesday. Once the tournament concludes, Ouedraogo will join Nebraska during their trip to Italy which begins on August 3rd. The Husker’s first game there is scheduled for August 5th against Stella Azzurra Academy in Rome.
