Huskers Surge Past Oklahoma, 2-1


Lincoln, Neb. – The Nebraska soccer team (1-1-0) picked up its first win of the season with a come-from-behind 2-1 triumph over Oklahoma at Hibner Stadium on Sunday afternoon. 
 
Despite the Huskers outshooting the Sooners in the first half, OU struck first with a goal in the 26th minute. Bri Amos scored off an assist from Alexis Washington to take the 1-0 lead. 
 
The Huskers responded in the 55th minute when Eleanor Dale netter her first goal of the season and her 10th career goal to tie the game at 1-1. Reagan Raabe passed to Abbey Schwarz who gathered and sent a cross into the penalty box, which Dale headed into the back right corner of the goal. 
 
In the 63rd minute, freshman Sadie Waite scored the game-winning goal, assisted by Schwarz. Schwarz sent a shot into the goal area that was blocked by the Oklahoma defense and gathered and then struck past the goalkeeper by Waite.  

Nebraska’s offense outshot Oklahoma by a 22-7 margin, including a 12-3 advantage in shots on goal. NU also held the 7-0 advantage in corner kicks. 

Goalkeeper Sami Hauk, who played the full 90 minutes, earned her fourth career win at Nebraska. Defenders Nicola Hauk and Lauryn Anglim also played the entire game. 

The Huskers continue their homestand on Thursday when they face Arizona, starting at 7:05 p.m. (CT).
