Huskers Set for Three-Game Series at Ohio State

The Nebraska softball team travels to Columbus, Ohio, this weekend, April 29-May 1, for a three game series with Ohio State. The Huskers will face the Buckeyes in game one on Friday, starting at 5 p.m. (CT). Game two is set for Saturday at 1 p.m. (CT) while the final game of the series will be Sunday at 11 a.m. (CT). This weekend’s series features two of the eight Big Ten teams with winning records in conference play. Ohio State (29-13, 9-8 Big Ten) enters the series in eighth place in the Big Ten standings, while Nebraska (34-11, 14-2 Big Ten) sits in second place. The Huskers lead the conference in numerous offensive categories including batting average, hits, home runs, RBIs, total bases, slugging percentage and on-base percentage. Ohio State is in the top five in the Big Ten in triples (3), home runs (5) and slugging percentage (5). 

 

• Nebraska ranks first in the conference in batting average (.325), hits (404), home runs (68), RBIs (281), total bases (694), slugging percentage (.559) and on-base percentage (.407). 
• NU also leads the Big Ten in home runs per game with 1.51.
• The Big Red travels to Columbus, Ohio, for the first time since 2015. NU is 5-3 at Ohio State.
• Nebraska’s .971 fielding percentage is currently chasing the school record of .973 which was set in 2006. 
• NU’s defense is ranked ninth in the nation for double plays per game with 0.53. 
• NU currently holds a team batting average of .325. This looks to be one of the highest team-averages since 2015 (.337). 
• The Huskers currently sit in second in the Big Ten standings with a 14-2 record behind Northwestern (15-2).
• Nebraska ranks 10th in the nation and first in the conference in scoring, averaging 6.67 runs per game. 
• The Huskers .559 slugging percentage is on-track to blow past the previous record of .505 which was set in 2015.
• NU has recorded 16 come-from-behind wins this season. 
• Mya Felder currently holds a .410 batting average. She looks to be the first Husker to have a batting average above .400 since 2016 and only the fifth NU player in history. 
• Mya Felder is hitting .397 (23-for-58) on the road with three doubles, two home runs and 13 RBIs through 17 away games this season. 
• Olivia Ferrell is 7-3 with a 1.72 ERA on the road. Ferrell has pitched 65.0 innings, striking out 57 batters in away games.
