The Nebraska baseball team plays its first midweek game since March 11, 2020, as the Huskers travel to take on Kansas State on Wednesday March 9 at Tointon Family Stadium in Manhattan, Kan.
First pitch between the Huskers and Wildcats is set for 4:02 p.m. on Wednesday.
Wednesday’s game will be broadcast live on Big 12 Now on ESPN+, with James Westling and Craig Wilson on the call. Fans can also listen to Greg Sharpe and Nick Handley call the action on the Huskers Radio Network. Wednesday’s game will be carried on 105.3 The Bone in Lincoln. Last Time Out
In its third trip in as many weekends to the Lone Star State, Nebraska went 3-1 last weekend against Northwestern State and UT Arlington in Arlington. The Huskers had a 2-0 win over Northwestern State before falling in the bottom of the ninth to UT Arlington on Friday, 4-3. The Big Red bounced back with a sweep on Saturday, led by Shay Schanaman’s complete-game three-hit shutout in game one, while timely hitting led the huskers to a win in the final game of the weekend over UT Arlington.

Due to forecasted inclement weather and field conditions, this weekend’s home series vs. Long Beach State has been canceled.
In place of the LBSU series, the Huskers will play a two-game home-and-home series with Omaha on Sunday-Monday, March 13-14. Sunday’s game is set for a 3 p.m. start at Tal Anderson Field in Omaha, while first pitch on Monday is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Haymarket Park.
Scouting the Kansas State Wildcats
• Kansas State enters Wednesday’s matchup with a 3-7 record after winning two of a three-game series at Loyola Marymount last weekend in Los Angeles.
• Justin Mitchell leads the Wildcats at the plate, hitting .375 with four doubles, a homer and three RBI. Orlando Salinas is tied for the team-high with eight RBI and has four doubles and a homer to go with a .367 batting average. Dylan Phillips has slugged a team-best three home runs and eight RBI this season.
• Wednesday starter Griffin Hassall is 0-2 on the season with a 2.45 ERA. Hassall has allowed five runs, two earned, on six hits and has struck out seven in 7.1 innings of work.
• As a team, K-State is hitting .281 with 99 hits, 27 doubles, a triple, six home runs and 54 runs. The Wildcat pitching staff has a team ERA of 5.95, while allowing 64 runs, 58 earned, and striking out 111 hitters in 87.2 innings.
• Head coach Pete Hughes is in his fourth season leading the K-State program and has a record of 72-60 with the Wildcats. Overall, Hughes is in his 25th season as a head coach and holds a career record of 724-562-3.
