The Nebraska men’s basketball team will play one last exhibition on Tuesday night before getting the regular season started this Saturday.

The Huskers will take on the Northwood Timberwolves, a Division II school from Midland, MI at 7 p.m.

Pregame coverage starts at 6 p.m. on KLIN. Kent Pavelka and Matt Davison will call the action.

Northwood, a member of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletics Conference (GLIAC), is entering its eighth season under head coach and former Husker Jeff Rekeweg, who was a captain on the 1987-88 team under coach Danny Knee.

Nebraska head coach Tim Miles says he and Jeff had been working on playing a game against each other for awhile.

“I’m doing this because of Jeff and his career here at Nebraska,” Miles said. “I thought it was a good idea to play him, get him back here so he can show his players where he played. We can just reconcile and bring a guy back and celebrate him, hopefully by kicking the crap out of him. That’s the goal.”

Rekeweg played at Nebraska from 1986-1988. He averaged nine points and three points a game during his senior season.

He’s 94-106 in seven seasons as the Timberwolves’ head coach, including a 5-25 mark in 2016-17.

Nebraska already has exhibition wins over Mississippi State and Iowa State in October. Miles says those games should have his team well prepared for Northwood.

“I feel probably more ready than we’ve been (in past years,” Miles said. “At least, we’re ready to know what to expect. So, I think that’s important.”

The Huskers most recently beat Iowa State in a closed scrimmage 92-84 on Oct. 29 at Pinnacle Bank Arena. They beat Mississippi State in Starkville, MS, 76-72, on Oct. 22 in a game where proceeds went to relief funds for victims of Hurricane Irma.

Nebraska will be without So. F Isaiah Roby (finger) and Sr. G Anton Gill (groin, knee) Tuesday as they recover from minor injuries.

The Huskers open their regular season on Saturday evening at 7 p.m. when they host Eastern Illinois.
