Huskers Ready for Creighton Bluejays



The Nebraska softball team is set to host Creighton in Lincoln, Neb., this Tuesday, March 29. The game which was previously set to start at 5 p.m. will have first pitch at 4 p.m. (CT) at Bowlin Stadium. Fans can listen to the game on the Huskers Radio Network or Huskers.com with the call by Nate Rohr and Mattie Fowler Burkhardt. It will also be streamed live on BTN+ (subscription required). 
 
Nebraska (21-9) has won the last six games with an offense that leads the Big Ten in numerous categories including hits, runs, home runs, RBIs, total bases, slugging percentage and on base percentage. Billie Andrews leads the Big Ten with a .950 slugging percentage, a combined 1.437 on base and slugging percentage and home runs with 17. Junior-transfer Mya Felder leads the Huskers with a .417 batting average, tallying 30 hits, four doubles, two homers and 16 RBIs. 
 
In the circle, seniors Olivia Ferrell and Courtney Wallace have been leaders throughout the first half of the season. Ferrell (11-4) holds a 2.37 ERA with 101 strikeouts through 91.2 innings. Wallace (10-4) has a 3.60 ERA through 89.1 innings and has tossed 64 strikeouts. 
 
Creighton (13-11) opened Big East play last weekend against Providence, claiming the series, 2-1. Emma Rosonke leads the Bluejay offense, holding a .373 batting average including 22 hits and seven homers. Kailey Wilson has added five homers and 17 RBIs with a .368 batting average. In the circle, Mikayla Santa Cruz holds a 5-6 record and a 3.84 ERA while Kate Mullally (3-1) has a 2.65 ERA.

Huskers in the Ranks 

  • The Huskers are currently ranked No. 1 in the Big Ten Conference with a 183 runs. 
  • NU has 255 hits on the season, the most in the conference through the first half of the season. 
  • Ranking first in the Big Ten Conference, the Big Red averages 1.57 homers per game. This average ranks 14th in the NCAA. 
  • The Huskers also lead the conference with 47 homers on the season, a number that ranks 13th in the nation. 
  • NU is No. 1 in the Big Ten Conference with a .398 on-base percentage. 
  • The Big Red is first in slugging percentage in the conference (0.541). 
  • Nebraska has been walked 115 times this season. This numbers leads the Big Ten and is 15th in the nation. 
  • The Huskers bring in 6.10 runs per game, ranking second in the conference.


Nebraska Quick Hits 

  • Billie Andrews leads the nation with 17 home runs on the season, a total that is two above the players in second. 
  • The sophomore also ranks No. 1 in the NCAA in home runs per game with an average of 0.57. 
  • Billie Andrews ranks first in conference and second in the nation in total bases with 96. 
  • The Gretna, Neb., native ranks first in the Big Ten Conference in slugging percentage (0.950). 
  • Billie Andrews is also ranked first in the conference in RBIs with 1.20 per game. 
  • Cam Ybarra ranks third in the conference in triples (three) and triples per game (0.12). 
  • Sydney Gray ranks fifth in the Big Ten with eight home runs.  
  • Sydney Gray is third in the conference, averaging 0.70 walks per game. 
  • Mya Felder ranks fourth in the conference in batting average holding a .417 average. 
  • Billie Andrews, Sydney Gray, Abbie Squier and Kaylin Kinney have all slugged two home runs in one game this season.
