Huskers Ranked 24th in AP Preseason Top 25 Poll

For the first time since 2014, the Nebraska football team made the AP preseason Top 25 Poll. The last time the Huskers appeared in the AP Top 25 was back on December 12th, 2016.

Nebraska is ranked 24th in the poll. There are also six other Big 10 schools ranked in the Top 25: Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Penn State, Michigan and Ohio State.

Defensive coordinator Erik Chinander spoke to reporters on Monday shortly after the poll was released. Chinander said he was pleased that the Huskers are gaining some national recognition but believes there’s still a lot of work ahead for NU.

“It’s cool because of the way the program is perceived. It’s great because of the way Coach (Scott) Frost is perceived (but) we haven’t done anything yet,” Chinander said. “I just assumed we weren’t ranked. I hope none of those guys think that they’ve made it because we certainly haven’t.”

The Huskers season opener is set for August 31st against South Alabama. Coverage of Nebraska football can be found on KLIN.
