Huskers Open Big Ten Play with Minnesota

The Nebraska soccer team (2-3-3) begins conference play this week as it hosts Minnesota at Hibner Stadium on Friday at 7:05 p.m. (CT). The match will be streamed on B1G+.

Last Time Out

NU recorded two home ties as it faced NC State on Thursday (0-0) and USC on Sunday (1-1).

The Huskers will continue conference play at home as they play Northwestern on Thursday at 7:05 p.m. (CT).

Kicking Off

• Sophomore Sarah Weber, a preseason player to watch, leads the conference standings in shots with 34 through eight games of play. Junior Eleanor Dale also made the list and sits in fourth with 24 shots through seven games.

• In the goal, junior Sami Hauk has recorded 29 saves, good for fifth in the conference, and two wins to bring her career total to five victories.

• Nebraska continues its tradition of playing a strong schedule in 2022. This year’s slate features eight NCAA Tournament qualifiers from last season, including two that advanced to the Sweet 16 and one that reached the Elite Eight. 

• During Big Ten play, five of Nebraska’s 10 conference opponents qualified for the NCAA Tournament last season.

• Head Coach John Walker is in his 29th season, alongside assistant coaches Ian Bridge (seventh season), Marty Everding (25th season) and Samantha Areman (second season).
