Nebraska opens Big Ten play with a weekend series vs. Michigan on Friday-Sunday, March 25-27 at Hawks Field.

 

First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 7:32 p.m., followed by a 2:02 p.m. start on Saturday and an 11:02 a.m. first pitch on Sunday.

 

Friday and Sunday’s games will be broadcast live on Big Ten Network, with Larry Punteney and Jeff Leise on the call. Saturday’s game can be seen on Nebraska Public Media, with Punteney, Leise and Ana Bellinghausen calling the action. Fans can also listen to Greg Sharpe and Ben McLaughlin call the action this weekend on the Huskers Radio Network. All three games will be carried on KLIN (1400 AM) in Lincoln and KXSP (590 AM) in Omaha. Every game this season can be heard for free on Huskers.com and the Official Nebraska Huskers App for both iOS and Android devices.

 

Last Time Out

Nebraska dropped a non-conference series at home last weekend vs. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. The Huskers climbed back from a three-run deficit in the bottom of the ninth to record their third walk-off win in the last four games after Leighton Banjoff’s walk-off two-RBI single to left in a 13-12 win over the Islanders. Texas A&M-CC captured the series win with a 4-1 victory on Saturday and 21-4 win on Sunday over the Big Red.

Next Up

Nebraska makes the short trip to Omaha for a midweek matchup at Creighton on Tuesday, March 29 at Charles Schwab Field. First pitch between the Huskers and Bluejays is set for 6:32 p.m.

 

Scouting the Michigan Wolverines

• Michigan enters the weekend with an 11-9 record after falling 8-2 at Xavier on Wednesday night.

• Clark Elliott leads the Wolverines at the plate, hitting .368 with nine doubles, a triple, three homers and 21 RBI this season. Joe Stewart is hitting .337, while Tito Flores had a team-high five home runs and Ted Burton leads Michigan with 27 RBI on the year.

• Connor O’Halloran is 2-2 on the season with a 2.70 ERA in sixt starts. O’Halloran has totaled 33 strikeouts and allowed 21 hits in 26.2 innings. Noah Rennard is 2-0 with a 2.62 ERA and has a team-high nine appearances on the season. Cameron Weston is 1-1 in four starts, posting a 4.29 ERA with 25 strikeouts in 21 innings.

• As a team, the Wolverines are hitting .279 with 198 hits, 43 doubles, four triples, 23 home runs and 161 runs. The Michigan pitching staff has a team ERA of 5.75, while allowing 130 runs, 111 earned, and striking out 183 hitters in 173.2 innings.

• Head coach Erik Bakich is in his 10th season at Michigan and holds a record of 305-197 with the Wolverines. Bakich is in his 13th season overall as a head coach and has a career record of 375-295.

 

The Series

• Nebraska leads the all-time series over Michigan, 16-13.

• The Huskers and Wolverines met in a three-game series in Lincoln in the final weekend of the regular season on May 28-29, 2021. Nebraska had a 1-0 win in Friday’s game, before the two teams split a doubleheader on Saturday.
